Setup guide for Windows

Check for a Java Virtual Machine

The DOME applet requires a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.4 or newer to run. You can test your JVM at this Web site. The version of your JVM is displayed under the Test your JVM? section. If it is lower than 1.4, please download a new one from here.

Locate and run the java policy tool

A java policy needs to be set up to allow the DOME applet provided from this Web site to run on your computer. In order to set up the java policy, you need to first locate the Policy Tool program and run it. In Windows, the program is policytool.exe. You can locate it by:

  • using the Search tool in your computer to search for the policytool.exe file, or
  • downloading it from here. When asked, save the file on to your computer.

To run the program, double-click on the policytool.exe file. If there is a security warning, just ignore it and hit Run.
